Profile Spotlight on Patty
MBC Teammate: Patty
Age: 30 plus 18
Hobbies: Boot camping, cooking (healthy meals!) gardening, book club, volunteering with Melrose Think Pink Team to raise awareness for breast health, and attending Melrose HS wrestling matches!
Other Great Facts about You:I am married and have a daughter who is a sophomore at UMass and son who is a junior at Melrose High School. I am the community outreach coordinator for Housing Families Inc. in Malden. We assist homeless families in the Greater Boston area. I am also a travel agent by trade!
How long have you been enrolled in Melrose Boot Camp? Since December 2009 when Melrose Boot Camp hosted a fundraiser to benefit Housing Families.
What do you like most about the program? I like the team camaraderie and feeling that we are all in this together.
What are your current fitness goals? To continue on this path of gaining more energy, strength and learning to eat healthier meals.
If you had one word to describe the program, what would it be?Fan-tab-u-lous!
What are your impressions of the MBC Trainers? They are very in tune to each participant and are always suggesting ways to modify an exercise to tailor it to each individual. You can gain valuable insight from their experiences and they are all very fit and work out right along side the class!
Do the MBC trainers help support your goals, if so how? I love the emails we get from Joy after a class is done. She always has inspirational quotes and helpful tips about staying on target, drinking lots of water, sending recipes to try and encouraging words to get you motivated for the next class.
Were you always a morning person, how do you feel about getting up so early to workout?Yes, but not always a 5:00 am person! But after spending a few months exercising at this time, I feel that I am in a rhythm and actually look forward to it. And the proof of this is when Melrose Boot Camp offered a 6:15 am session, I opted to stay with the 5:15 class instead! I NEVER thought that would happen.
Any advice you want to share with new members considering joining the program? You will always finish a class and say, I am so glad I did that, what a great way to start the day.
Other thoughts? This is by far the best exercise program I’ve ever done. The instructors are very motivating and make the classes fun. Having classes outdoors in all kinds of weather really pushes you to accomplish things you never thought you could.
